SEX REDUCES STRESS
Intercourse can lower your stress levels. A study published in the journal Biological Perspectives asked participants to participate in a stressful activity, such as giving a speech or taking a complex math quiz. Participants who had vaginal intercourse before a stressful task had lower stress levels and lower blood pressure when compared to those who did not have sex, those who masturbated, and those who had sex without intercourse.
LESS SEX, MORE WORK
Researchers from the University of Göttingen in Germany found that people with less-than-strong sex lives tend to work more in the bedroom to compensate for their lack of satiety. The study asked 32,000 people to describe their sex and work habits. Researchers found that 36 percent of men and 35 percent of women who had sex only once a week engaged in their work. The more work you have, the more stress you'll have - and the more stress you have, the less sex you'll have. It is a vicious cycle.
SEX IS GOOD FOR YOUR TICKER
Intercourse gets your heart beating, but that's not where the heart health benefits end. A study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health found that sex can reduce a man's risk for a fatal heart attack. Researchers found that men who had sex twice or more every week were less likely to die of a heart attack than men who had sex less often. The study found no association between the frequency of intercourse and the likelihood of dying from a stroke.
BETTER SELF-ESTEEM
There are two sides to the road to sex and self-esteem: people who have sex to feel good about themselves, and people who have sex to feel good about themselves. A study published in Archives of Sexual Behavior looked at the many reasons humans want to have sex and found that one of the most common driving factors is the self-esteem that many people get from working out. That's what people report that sex makes them feel powerful and more attractive. Also, some of the people in the study had more altruistic intentions and wanted their partners to feel good about themselves.
SEX RELIEVES PAIN
Sex can make you feel good in many ways. There's an obvious physical benefit, and then less obvious: pain relief. During arousal and arousal, the hypothalamus in the brain releases the feel-good hormone oxytocin. Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey found that this surge of oxytocin may help women feel less pain, especially during menstruation. A study published in the Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine found that oxytocin halved pain perception in men.
SEX PREVENTS CANCER
According to some research, men aged 50 and over who have frequent sex are less likely to get prostate cancer than men who don't have sex frequently. A study published in the journal BJU InternationalTrusted Source found that intercourse and masturbation may reduce the risk of prostate cancer in older men. Another study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that frequent ejaculation in a man's 20s may also help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
ORGASM IMPROVES SPERM QUALITY
Frequent sex can improve a man's sperm quality, reduce DNA damage to sperm, and increase fertility. According to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, men who have daily sex, or ejaculate daily, have more viable and higher-quality semen after seven days than men who do not have sex. Studies show that this approach may help couples with mild fertility problems conceive.
CONSIDER SECURITY
Sex is a chance for couples to explore their passion, connect and enjoy their relationship. It also has many additional benefits which are the icing on the cake. Of course, to maintain a healthy sex life, don't forget to practice safe sex. Use protection, especially if you are not in a marriage, and get tested for sexually transmitted infections regularly.
HARD-WORKING HEART
The heart is the hardest working muscle in the body. Every day, it creates enough energy to drive a semi-truck over 18 miles (30 kilometers). Over a lifetime, that’s equivalent to driving to the moon and back.
AMAZING BRAIN
The brain is 60 percent fat, but it still works hard. At any given time, your brain can generate up to 25 watts of power – that’s enough to power a light bulb.
GLOWING SKIN
Skin is the human body’s largest organ and is constantly renewing itself. Your skin sheds 50,000 cells every minute. Over a lifetime, that piles up to 40 pounds (18.1 kilograms) of skin.
THOUGHT POWER
Your brain is always working, and it is more active while you’re sleeping. Scientists say the average person has roughly 70,000 thoughts each day.
SHRINKING BONES
You’re born with more than 300 bones, but by the time you’re an adult, you have just 206. This is because some of the bones are fused.
WOMB WITH A VIEW
Babies in the womb grow 8,000 new brain cells every second. Newborn babies can recognize their mother’s face after just a few hours.
INCREDIBLE SENSE
Scientists have discovered that the visual cortex of blind people can rewire itself to respond to stimuli received through touch and hearing, helping them to "see" by touch and sound.
UNFEELING BRAIN
The brain itself doesn’t have any pain receptors, so it doesn't feel anything. That is why surgeons can perform open brain procedures on patients while they are awake.
PUMP POWER
During an average lifetime, the heart will pump nearly 1.5 million barrels of blood. A pumping human heart can squirt blood 10 yards (9.1 meters).
FAST SNEEZE
The typical human sneeze travels at just under 40 mph (64 kph). That’s the same speed as a running tiger!
LONG ARTERIES
If your arteries, veins, and capillaries were laid out end to end, they would measure 62,137 miles (100,000 kilometers). That’s nearly enough to stretch two and a half times around the planet!
GROWING HAIR
Your hair grows nearly one-quarter of an inch (6 millimeters) every four weeks and keeps on growing for up to six years. The hair then falls out, and another grows in its place.
AMAZING MEMORY
Smell is the oldest of all the senses - before sight, hearing or touch, creatures evolved to respond to chemicals around them. Your brain can remember over 50,000 different scents.
AGEING BRAIN
The human brain is the most sophisticated thing in the known universe. Humans have more brain cells at the age of two than at any other point in their lives, but it takes nearly 20 years for the brain to mature.
IRON MAN
There is enough iron in a body to make a metal nail measuring up to three inches (7.6 centimeters) long.
EYE FOR DETAIL
If the human eye were a digital camera, it would have 576 megapixels. An eye can distinguish about 10 million different colors.
WATER
In a lifetime, a person drinks 20,000 (75,000 liters) gallons of water
POOL OF DROOL
An average person produces about 1.8 pints (one liter) of saliva a day or 25,000 quarts (23,658 liters) of saliva in a lifetime. This is enough to fill two swimming pools.
EARS AND NOSE ALWAYS GROW
Did you know that one’s ears and nose never stop growing?
MILES TO GO
If uncoiled, the DNA in all the cells of the human body would stretch up to 10 billion miles. That’s the distance from Earth to Pluto and back or 6,000 trips from Earth to the moon.
LONG-TERM STORAGE SPACE
Your brain’s long-term memory, which develops until the age of 40, can hold as many as 1 quadrillions (1 million billion) separate bits of information in a lifetime.
BEAT-BOPPING HEART
The pulse of your heartbeat changes according to the music you listen to.
TONGUE PRINT
Just like fingerprints, every person has a unique tongue print.
TASTY TREATS
Your mouth contains around 10,000 taste buds, most of which are located on and around the tiny bumps on your tongue. However, the sense of smell is necessary for taste, too.
COLOUR OF BONES
Did you know the color of the human bones ranges from beige to light brown? The bones you see in museums are white because they have been boiled and cleaned.
A CHARGED HEART
Since a human heart has its electrical impulse, it can continue beating for some time even if it is separated from the body.
A FEW INTERESTING FACTS
Blood - Sugar Chart
A detailed description of values of sugar in the blood in terms of mg/dl depending upon the test- Fasting, maximum and Glucose tolerance test (GTT) for Normal persons, early diabetes, and established diabetes
Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, helps maintain normal blood sugar levels
Blood sugar (glucose) - is the main fuel that the body uses to produce energy
Uncontrolled or high blood sugar levels can lead to health complications such as blindness, heart diseases, kidney disease, and sexual erectile dysfunction.
The increase in the concentration of glucose in the blood leads to a condition called "diabetic coma" or hyperglycemia.
NORMAL VALUE
Fasting Value 70 to 110
2 Hours After Food 80 to 120
EARLY DIABETES
Fasting Value 120 to 140
Maximum Value 160 to 180
ESTABLISHED DIABETES
Fasting Value of more than 140
Maximum Value 200 or more
The central nervous system is composed of more than 100 billion neurons.
The cerebral cortex is the smallest part of the brain, but it is the largest portion of the nervous system.
The brain has three parts:
cerebrum-outer part; governs thought, the senses, and movement
cerebellum-middle; controls balance and muscle coordination
cerebral cortex-inner; governs involuntary muscles
DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS OF A HEART ATTACK?
Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest lasting longer than two minutes.
Pain in the shoulder, arm, neck, or jaw.
Sweating.
Nausea and vomiting.
Shortness of breath, dizziness, or fainting.
Your heart is a hollow muscle about the same size as your fist
Your heart beats about 100,000 times a day
Your heart pumps a total of 8,000 gallons of blood 12,000 miles through your body every day
The heart beats 3000 million times in an average lifetime.
The heart beats an average of 72 beats a minute
Skin is the body's largest organ. The liver is the second largest
Everyone is color-blind at the beginning of life. That's because cone cells don't develop in the eyes until a baby is about six to eight months old
There are as many as 50 or more primary sensations of smell
There are over 200 different cold viruses
Did you know that pain has a purpose? Pain is a protective mechanism for the body. It occurs whenever tissues are being damaged, and it causes the individual to react to whatever is causing the pain
WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY SENSATIONS OF TASTE?
Sour, Salty, Sweet, and Bitter
Hiccupping occurs when your normal breathing pattern gets interrupted. Your diaphragm sends an unusual gust of air to your lungs. At the same time, your brain sends a message to your tongue and the upper part of your throat to clamp down to stop the rush of air.
Do donated organs need to be transplanted quickly How long can donated organs last outside the body?
A heart lasts three to five hours
A liver lasts for 10 hours
A kidney lasts for 24 to 48 hours
THE HUMAN BODY CONSISTS OF NINE MAIN SYSTEMS:
Skeletal system
Muscular system
Nervous system
Hormonal system
Circulatory system
Digestive system
Respiratory system
Immune system
Reproductive system
The entire body contains about 100 trillion cells
About 56 percent of the human body is fluid
THERE ARE 206 BONES IN THE HUMAN BODY
Bones might be classified as part of the circulatory system since they produce all of the body's blood cells within their marrow.
Although your bones are hard, inside they are, in fact, light and spongy and about three-fourths water.
THERE ARE 600 MUSCLES IN THE BODY
Each hair on your body comes equipped with a tiny muscle that can make it stand upright.
Approximately 40 percent of the body is skeletal muscle and almost another 10 percent is smooth and cardiac muscle.
BLOOD IS A LIQUID ORGAN
There are four types of blood,
A, B, O, and AB, and the most common is type O:
Type O - 47%
Type A - 41%
Type B - 9%
Type AB - 3%
KIDNEYS CLEAN YOUR BLOOD
Each minute, about a quart of blood, passes through your kidneys and comes out clean
In a lifetime, your kidneys will wash more than 1 million gallons of blood
You have 26 feet of the intestine; the small intestine is 21 feet long and the large intestine is 5 feet.
Did you know that your digestive system starts working even before you take your first bite of food? The sight and smell of the food make special glands in your mouth produce saliva or spit.
A meal takes between 12 to 15 hours to go through the whole digestive system.
WHAT JOB DOES YOUR APPENDIX DO?
Nothing, it is a little dead-end tube or sac that dangles about three inches from the lowest part of your large intestine. Food particles sometimes get caught in the tube and bacteria grows, irritating the appendix. It swells up and needs to be removed.
An average adult needs between 1,300 and 1,600 calories a day
Growing kids ages 7 to 10 need an average of 2,400
Boys ages 11 to 14 need 2,700
Girls that age need 2,200
Testicles are parts that are found on the bodies of male creatures. Male mammals, including men, have two testicles, supported in a sac of skin below the penis called the scrotum. Testicles are called reproductory organs or "sex organs". Only males have testicles; females have ovaries.
